"A man wearing only his socks and underwear set two fires in a field outside Deeth Monday evening before calling police to claim that multiple people had been shot, according to Elko County Undersheriff Clair Morris. When deputies arrived around 6 p.m. they found only the man dancing in the field, Morris said. It was about 30 degrees outside."
The 'field' happened to be in the middle of nowhere, not just near town. There were no other people, shot or un-shot in the field. Among other things, the man was arrested for battery after he kicked an ambulance person. The police think he may have been under the influence of a drug. Maybe.
