Visiting the Aquarium - OR How to exit a dark theater with screaming children.

I took the girls to the aquarium in Utah.

We had a fun time watching all sorts of fish and animals.

Penelope was brave and tried this cool bridge....pretty high in the air! I was so proud.
Then her foot got caught in the rope, and scared her half to death. Poor girl. We were almost done though, the grand finale was going to the theater! They were playing a nice kids show about turtles, Penelope was even familiar with the characters. Win-win I thought.  A nice way to end our nice little excursion.
This was as good as it got in the theatre.
We got into the theater, and before the show started, Penelope was complaining that it was too loud. The show started and it got even louder, so Penelope just watched while covering her ears. OK, no big deal. Then a smell started coming from my lap. Again, not too big of a deal, I will just sit and hope nobody else can smell it for the duration of the program.

And then it happened. The theater was one of those super cool ones that sprays you when the little turtle sneezes on screen. Both girls completely lost it. Both were screaming bloody murder. I tried to calm them, but soon realized I was no match for a spraying, sneezing theater.

So I grabbed a stinky, screaming baby, a diaper bag, the baby carrier I had taken off, and started to lead Penelope out of the theater. But freaked out screaming little girls don't move, so tried to pick Penelope up too, and half carried, half drug Penelope to the exit door in the dim light.

And that concluded our trip to the aquarium.

  1. Oh dear. This is such a familiar situation. They old "It can't get any worse, we will just endure until it is over." And then suddenly it does get worse. It is much funnier when you tell it, then when it is happening to me.

And the theatre sneezes at you? I feel like I would have been a bit startled too. But, very immersive experience.
